A REAL Update

Everyone told me again and again that the first year (Tyler's) would go quickly and to enjoy every moment.  Those first few months made me think that people had lied to me; life was in slow motion.  I couldn't wait to see Tyler roll over or sleep through the night or crawl.  Low and behold, people were right....she grew so quickly in that first year.  I laugh now because I can remember thinking the first six months would never end.  Now that we are on to the second year, life is moving at lightning speed!  Let me try to bring you all up todate on Tyler...

Tyler is now running away from us when we try to pick her up or take something from her.  As most of you already know, she is a free spirit and VERY independent.  She will also yell "OUCH" as loud as she can if we are trying to hold her or pick her up.  Most of the time this happens while we are at Costco or Target.  I can't tell you how many people actually turn and look.  Not sure if it is because she is yelling or because of what she is yelling.  She has learned how to jump and will now try to do it if you ask her to.  She makes the silliest faces you have ever seen and waits to see your reaction.  Most of the time we laugh which sends her into a fit of giggles. Tyler has a favorite TV show..."Yo Gabba Gabba".  She has no real interest in anything on television but when she hears anything having to do with "Yo Gabba Gabba" she comes running.  Tyler also LOVES music.  If s familiar song comes on, she starts to dance and laugh.  Maybe she will be musically inclined?

Tyler's vocabulary has grown at an incredible rate.  My new favorites are: vacuum, apple, no no Mott, Shannon, baby and t-t (we are trying to teach her to say "auntie").  She is also putting two or three words together on a regular basis now.  She loves to talk!  What can I say...she takes after her mama, right?  We, Tyler included, are experiencing more frustrations when it comes to her language and communication skills.  We don't always understand what she is saying or asking for.  In turn, she doesn't understand that we don't understand what she is trying to tell us.  She uses the sign for "more" when she is trying to get her point across or emphasizing something.  Most of the time we can figure it out after asking her a few questions.

She loves to play with her baby doll.  She pushes it in her little cart, all over the house.  She now refers to any child as "baby".  I think she might have picked that one up from Zach when he was here visiting!  Tyler has always enjoyed reading but we have noticed a real increase in her desire to look at books. She is content to sit and "read" the books by herself.  She has learned how to tickle us anytime we try to tickle her.  She still loves to play with Mottley and to empty every and any drawer/cupboard within her reach.
